Malaysia Government imposed anti-dumping duties on imports from China, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam for five years. The products selected were cold rolled iron or non-alloy steel coil, said the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

The highest tax was of 26.39%  imposed on all Japanese producers. While 26.38% was set for most Chinese producers. South Koreans will have just 3.84%, except for POSCO, which had zero duty imposed.

For Steel Coils of more than 1,300mm, the ministry concluded an anti-dumping investigation on behalf of the domestic industry. The industry complained that material was “being imported into Malaysia at a price lower than the selling price in their respective domestic markets,” said the ministry in a statement.

The duties are already effected, and will be valid on steel imports Malaysia until Dec. 24, 2024.
